The City of La Crescent is conducting a Railroad Crossing Study to evaluate opportunities to improve safety, mobility, and connectivity along the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) corridor. The study will focus on four existing rail crossings.

Funded through the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) Program, the study will assess existing conditions and evaluate potential strategies to improve safety and reduce conflicts between rail operations and roadway users in La Crescent. Potential improvements may include crossing signal upgrades, pedestrian and bicycle enhancements, roadway access modifications, or the closure of one or more crossings, where appropriate.
